Spirit Sky works without an account, and we don’t ask for your name or email. Your birth details, charts, notes, and settings are stored on your device. A few features send limited information off your device, and each one is described below: looking up a birthplace, estimating your city for Earthlight, writing your readings, and anything you choose to share in Earthlight. We never sell your data.
Your birth date, time, and selected place, your computed chart, saved readings, friends’ charts, notes, Timeline memories, and app settings are stored locally on your device, and they are removed when you delete the app. When you type a birthplace, the text is sent to Nominatim, OpenStreetMap’s geocoding service, to look up latitude and longitude. The selected birthplace and returned coordinates are kept with the chart on your device. Spirit Studios does not receive or store the birthplace text through this lookup.
Many of your readings are written by AI models from Anthropic and Cloudflare, through Spirit Studios’ own reading service. For a daily, weekly, or monthly reading, the app sends only the chart details the reading needs, such as your Sun, Moon, and Rising signs and the current transits. Your birth date, time, place, and name are not sent. For a compatibility reading, the app also sends your friend’s signs, the name you gave them, and their pronouns. With Patch Plus, a reflection on a Timeline memory sends the text of that memory, the year, and your age at the time.
Compatibility readings are written when you open a friend’s compatibility page, memory reflections when you ask for one, and neither is stored on our servers. Our reading service may keep a copy of daily, weekly, and monthly readings so they load quickly, until it is removed. A general reading would then be shared by readers with the same Rising sign, and a Patch Plus reading would be kept under a random identifier the app creates. Neither is linked to your name, your Earthlight account, or your membership.
Earthlight estimates your city from your IP address so the sky matches where you are. To do this, the app asks an IP location service (ipwho.is, ipapi.co, or GeoJS), which sees your IP address. It does not use GPS or provide a precise location. The estimate is cached on your device, and light coordinates are stored coarsely.
Earthlight lets you react to what is happening in the sky and, with Patch Plus, leave a short written note on an alignment for others to see. Your emoji, any short note you choose to share, a random anonymous identifier for your device, and the display name you choose are stored with that coarse location on our servers hosted by Supabase. Your display name appears beside what you share so other members can see it. No account, email, or password is involved, and your display name is not linked to your real identity.
You can delete your own notes at any time from within the app. Settings also has a Delete account button, which removes your Earthlight account and every note and light you shared from our servers, and erases all Spirit Sky data on this device. If any of that cannot be completed at the time, the app tells you so you can try again. To have everything associated with your device removed, contact us at the address below.
Reading reminders and transit alerts are scheduled on your device, and no push address is registered with our servers. You can turn all notifications off at any time in Options → Notifications or in your device settings.
Subscriptions and one-time purchases are processed by Apple or Google through your Apple ID or Google Play account. We never see your payment details. Our subscription service, RevenueCat, receives your purchase receipt and a random or account-linked identifier so your Patch Plus membership can be recognized. If your membership fails to sync, the app may add a short technical code to that record so we can fix it.
To use one Patch Plus membership across our apps, you can choose to sign in with Apple or Google. The app then receives a stable identifier from Apple or Google, which our subscription service uses to recognize your membership in each app. Apple or Google may also share your name or email, which stays on your device to label the linked account. Spirit Sky is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
We don’t sell your data. We don’t collect your contacts or photos. We don’t access GPS or collect your precise current location. We don’t profile you across other apps or websites.
If this policy changes in a meaningful way, we’ll update the date at the top and note the change in the app.
