Your Journey Begins

Learn Tarot

The Tarot is an intricate map of the Universe — and the human experience. While commonly seen as fortune telling, tarot is more of a guide and mirror to the truths within. Let's begin!

Foundation

What Is the Tarot?

The Tarot is a pictographic diagram of both the universe and the human body of conscious experience — an oracle, or a book of wisdom disguised as a deck of cards. The symbols, archetypes, and meanings are based on ancient teachings spanning Qabalah, Hermeticism, Astrology, and Numerology.

Its purpose is to support us in building and strengthening the connection between the mind and the heart. The mind can become overwhelmed when it's not in tune with the heart — and Tarot offers an avenue to pause, reflect, and reconnect with the light within.

Tarot invites you to explore your inner realm, and to live from a more whole and centred awareness. By engaging with the cards, you begin to recognise fundamental symbols and patterns at a deeper level — whether or not you were previously conscious of them. This allows you to connect with the underlying principles behind life's natural forces — and connect to the truth within.

Discover the Arcana

Patch Tarot organises its 86 cards into four families — each reflecting a unique aspect of your consciousness and the Universe itself.

The Major Arcana

26 cards

The Major Arcana tells the story of consciousness evolving through the four elements — the timeless journey of The Fool from humble beginnings to enlightened understanding. Each card represents an archetype encountered on the inner journey of self-realisation.

While the Minor Arcana contains 4 suits that relate to the 4 elements, the Major Arcana reflects the 5th element: Spirit. When a Major Arcana card appears in a reading, it points to deep, soul-level forces in your life.

The Holy Arcana

4 cards

Unique to Patch Tarot, the Holy Arcana introduces four cards that exist beyond the traditional Tree of Life — transcendent forces that oversee the creative process from outside conscious awareness.

They are: The Life (Ain Soph Aur), The Truth (Ain Soph), The Way (Ain), and The All (YHVH). When one of these cards appears in a reading, you are guided to look beyond your individual human experience and to the Source from which all things are created.

The Minor Arcana

40 cards · 4 suits

The Minor Arcana reflects the everyday experiences of life across four elemental suits — Wands (Fire / will and creativity), Cups (Water / emotion and feeling), Swords (Air / intellect and truth), and Coins (Earth / the material world).

Each suit runs Ace through Ten — and if you've ever felt a situation building, peaking, or starting over, you'll recognise yourself in these cards immediately.

The Royal Arcana

16 cards · court cards

The Royal Arcana — also called the Court Cards — features King, Queen, Prince, and Princess for each of the four suits. In Patch Tarot, the traditional Knight becomes Prince and Page becomes Princess, reflecting a more inclusive and archetypal understanding.

These cards often represent people in your life, aspects of yourself, or energetic qualities you're being called to embody or release.

Getting Started

How to Do a Reading

1

Set Your Intention

Before drawing a card, take a moment to breathe and arrive. You can hold a specific question, or simply open with the intention of receiving clarity on what your soul most needs to see right now. There's no wrong way.

2

Draw Your Card

Shuffle your deck or draw a digital card here. The card that presents itself isn't random — it's a mirror. Trust whatever comes.

3

Look Before You Read

Before looking up the card's meaning, spend a moment just observing the image. What do you notice? What feeling arises? What symbols catch your eye? Your intuitive response is always the first and most important layer.

4

Read the Card

Now explore the card's meaning. Look at whether it's upright or reversed — but remember, neither is inherently good or bad. A reversed card simply shows where energy may be blocked, turned inward, or requiring attention.

5

Sit With It

The most powerful readings aren't the ones that tell you the answer — they're the ones that open a question you hadn't thought to ask. Use the card as a lens as you go through your day. Notice what comes up.
